Six Steps To Follow Through When Setting Up Your Affiliate Marketing Business

With a large group of people when we mention online business models, the first online business model that comes to mind is the passive online income type. Affiliate marketing and Google AdSense would mostly be dragged into the discussion and consideration. But many online marketers (and/or affiliate marketers) have had the experience with AdSense that it actually gives out rather relatively lower payouts compared to other means of online revenue sources. Because of this reason, many affiliate marketers (who are also top revenue earning publishers) are moving away from the once very popular AdSense model.

Putting their main focus back onto affiliate marketing would have generated them much more revenue faster. This clearly shows that affiliate marketing is still one of the most popular online monetization methods that is becoming more popular with every passing day. The fundamental concepts of affiliate marketing and how you can use them to build a successful affiliate long term income would require you going through the initial setup steps.

Step 1: Identify the most profitable or best selling products in a specific niche through using a tool such as Nichescaper.

Step 2: Build a website around an Amazon Associates affiliate product (assuming you already decided your niche). The site can be developed using one of the paid and already hosted website builder packages (such as Shopify, Wix, etc). When you are skillful enough and have some PHP/JavaScript coding capabilities, you may start with putting up your website on WordPress (which is a free platform, while you need to buy yourself a paid web hosting package).

Step 3: The experienced affiliate marketers may inform you that Amazon Associates as an affiliate program, its payouts of many affiliate products are relatively low such as 4%, 6%, etc. You may need to start looking into affiliate products that usually offer a much higher payout to justify your efforts. Fortunately, you may try out Clickbank, JVZoo, etc.

Step 4: Identify the keywords through doing a thorough keyword research exercise. The keyword suggestion tools that you may use and are free to use include Google Keyword Planner and UberSuggest.

Step 5: Combine the information about the affiliate product you have chosen and the keywords you have identified, start writing the content (i.e. the copy) for your website’s product pages.

By this stage, you would already have your website already developed according to your keyword research, and your content requirements, with all your affiliate links in place.

Step 6: It is time to add the customer list building capabilities onto your site. The reason behind is that you want your website not simply stays as a website, but becomes a real business for long term. Customer list building is actually about building your email list of your customers online. In this case, it is through using your website. With a customer list, you won’t have to simply only sell one thing to per customer. But you can start doing cross-sell, up-sell, and more. An example is that if you sell lawnmower on your site, but the customer doesn’t want it (because simply he already has a lawnmower). You can cross-sell this customer with lawnmower parts and accessories, and other gardening and DIY items including gardening tools, garden sheds, power tools, DIY guides, etc. The affiliate product list becomes unlimited.
