Fresh Modern Warfare 2 Screenshots [1]
Activision just released a fresh bunch of highly anti-aliased 720p screenshots of “Modern Warfare 2″. Also known as shots from the PC version. The one without dedicated servers. Also, a lack of snow. I love snow, but it was getting a bit much, yes?
The game is only about 20 days away. My math skills are failing me. I don’t feel so good.

What this really comes down to is a matter of choice. IWNet eliminates much of the choices and freedom that PC gamers have enjoyed for years, and it’s also removing one of the greatest advantages to playing games on a PC in mod support.
[...]it incentivizes downloadable content to a market that could otherwise turn to an unlimited supply of free, community-made DLC.
We’ll see how Infinity Ward or Activision will react to the community outcry, as the petition is now at 120.000 signatures, far eclipsing the outrage “Left 4 Dead 2″ has seen.
New Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Map ‘Dust’ debuts [Comments Off]
Gamestop is currently running a SurprizeAttack promo for “Modern Warfare 2″, now this in itself is not the most notable thing, but their ad for this marketing campaign includes footage of a never before seen map.

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling (fourzerotwo) has just announced on the Bash Podcast (skip to 1:40) that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″ will not feature dedicated servers, and instead opts to connect people via a new backend interface called IW.net, that should replicate the features “Modern Warfare” players on consoles are used to, such as matchmaking.
“With Modern Warfare 2 more than ever, the team is focussing on heaving it equal on every platform [...] literally, we’re doing a lot of work on the back-end to make sure to make it accessible for everybody. [...] We’ve been building up this system called IW.net to allow matchmaking on the PC just like we have it on consoles. You are completely reliant on IW.net, and there’s no dedicated servers.
The support of custom content (mods, maps) is still not decided on. MW2 will also replace Punk-Buster with VAC.
I am not sure what the PC community will make of this, but I guess they won’t be too thrilled.

250 GB Xbox 360 launching with MW2 [Comments Off]
“Modern Warfare 2″ will be getting it’s own bundle come November 10. For $399, you get a custom “Modern Warfare 2″ branded Xbox 360, 2 controllers, a 250GB hard-drive and the game. No HDMI cable. Classy move.
For now, only an US launch is confirmed. We will be following up with Activision to get the nitty gritty on what’s up over here in Euroland.
Update My, that was fast! Europe gets the bundle on November 13 for €329.
