For fans of the plastic music industry: Activison has set the launch date of Guitar Hero 5 – it will be available from the 1st of September, 2009 – delivering a successful punch in the face of rival rhythm game, The Beatles: Rock Band – which will premiere a week later. Neversoft revamped the whole visual style of the game, and they really did, as you can tell by the example screenshots: the game seems more “grown up”.  If you want to know about new features and new songs, then: continue reading →

Cooperative shooter for the Wii – The Grinder [Comments Off]

Yes, yes! Big high-five for High Voltage again, as they’ve revealed another game being developed in their lab – The Grinder. This title is a Nintendo Wii exclusive, just like yesterday’s Gladiator A.D., but this is a FPS… inspired by Left 4 Dead’s cooperative gameplay! You read it right, a cooperative FPS for the Wii, playable by 4, only in this case, werewolves and vampires are your enemies, not zombies, as in L4D. And when you can go crazy in co-op mode with your friends, who gives a damn, that the idea of the game is not a unique one? I’d play L4D for years, if new maps were released more often. There’s only one thing better then slaying zombies, werewolves and vampires… slaying humans, as werewolves and vampires! But that we’ll have to wait. Meanwhile, take a look at the screenshots and read the interview on this promising game, after the break. continue reading →

Don’t lose your head – Gladiator A.D. for the Wii announced [Comments Off]

It always makes our heart race, when we hear about new releases for the Nintendo Wii – especially if it’s a game which is not intended for children in kindergardens – and High Voltage delivers again: The developer of The Conduit has revealed details about their ultra-gory game under development named Gladiator A.D.

It’s a title inspired by the movie 300 (and perhaps, Gladiator — shot in the dark, that one) and takes players back to ancient Rome to embrace the dust of the arenas, like famous gladiators of that time. We are happy to welcome such a game, since the Wii doesn’t have much to show yet in regards of ripping people new ones.

Eric Nofsinger: Gladiator A.D. takes strategic combat mechanics and steps it up a notch with an RPG-light twist and more player options. Players take their gladiator into one of history’s most brutal blood sports; the Roman Gladiatorial Circuit. After winning enough favor from the crowd, players can challenge the champions for fame, wealth, and in some cases, freedom stand waiting to the victor.

Ahh, I’ll buy Ride at a high price! [Comments Off]

120 Dollars. That is how much you will have to pony up if you want to take this new peripheral driven skateboarding game for a Ride, that is, if Gamestop are correct in their estimation, as the price shows up on their pre-order page for the product.

While more expensive than a real skateboard, this one lets you pull off a 1080 kickflip fs backflip nosegrab and land it straight into a nose-grind.

Don’t sell your kidney just yet, we are still waiting for an official announcement from publisher Activision.

Suda 51: No More Heroes 2 is almost done [Comments Off]

According to game-design mastermind and god amongst men Suda 51, his third Wii effort, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle is nearing the very end of the development process according to an interview with 1up.

1UP: You’re working on No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle for release early next year. Can you give us an update on the game and the development process?

Suda: It’s the very end. If I had to say one word, I’d say it’s at the very end of production.

1UP: When will we see more of the game? Will it be playable at E3?

Suda: No, not playable.

1UP: Will it be shown off at E3? Will there be a presentation?

Suda: I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully…

1UP: Do you envision the No More Heroes series hitting another platform in the future, whether it’s another console or even a handheld system?

Suda: Actually, a lot of the fans were dying to play the game on other consoles, so I think it’d be great if I could do it, but there’s no plan yet. [If so,] I would match the content to [fit] the other consoles. No More Heroes could be a big title, like a big IP, so it’d be good to have a chance to release the game on other consoles, and that would maybe maximize the market.

The sequel to 2007’s No More Heroes is set to be released early 2010 for the Nintendo Wii.

MadWorld PAL version is… boxy [Comments Off]

Many Wii owners and prospective MadWorld buyers were rightfully disappointed when it was announced that the title will not ship with support for 480p. Many still took the pluge, only to find out that the european version not only does not support 480p, but neither does it do 60hz… or full-screen, for that matter.

Keep in mind, MadWorld is still a very, very fun game and possibly the best game to come out this year yet, but still, if technical details as this bother you, maybe you should play No More Heroes again. You know what? Just play No More Heroes again anyway, even if you decide to buy MadWorld. Good stuff.

On a more serious note, we will ask SEGA for comment first thing in the morning.
