Assassins Creed II DRM wants your internet, always [3]
Like a bad friend only coming to your place to use your internet, the PC version of “Assassins Creed II” will require an active internet connection at all times, reports PC Gamer. Should your internet get wonky and the game is not able to phone home, it will simply ask you to please save your game so it can exit to Windows.
Yeah, people are not going to like this one bit.
If you don’t want “Splinter Cell Conviction” — same studio, no less — to turn out the same way, I think you want to start to riot just about now.
Splinter Cell Conviction delayed to April [0]
“Splinter Cell Forever Conviction” will be in stores this April, instead of February, Ubisoft just announced. No reasons for the delay of the Xbox 360 exclusive espionage action thriller were given.
Splinter Cell Conviction drops Spies vs Mercs mode [3]
Ubisoft has just confirmed via the official “Splinter Cell Conviction” forum that a Spies vs Mercs mode will not be included in the game.
I just wanted to clarify this for everyone: there is no Spies versus Mercenaries mode in Splinter Cell Conviction. Why? The reasons were touched on by Alex, but some more details are below:
From the beginning we decided to make the best co-op experience possible for SCC. The gameplay developed in single-player supports co-op very well because it lets TWO players work together to dominate the enemy and reinforce that feeling of being predatory. If Sam is the panther, Archer and Kestrel are like two wolves in a pack, working together to take down their prey. SvM doesn’t fit this new approach to gameplay.
We also wanted to be consistent across the whole game with our narrative ambition, and Co-Op is really the best approach to support a strong story.
However, there is one adversarial mode: the face-off, consisting of spy versus spy, with hostile AI thrown into the mix.
Again, just to make sure we’re all clear here, there is no SvM mode in SCC and there are no plans to have it come in the future as DLC.
That’s a definite no-no. Not now, or ever. Never. People are pissed, beating up people in bathrooms.
“Splinter Cell Conviction” is out for Xbox 360 february 2010. Get stoked — or angry; your call.
Splinter Cell Conviction Demo drops in January [0]
Xbox 360 exclusive “Splinter Cell Conviction” will have a demo, and it will be out in January a rep from the company told, uhm, HipHopGamer. Don’t click on the link, just take my word for it.
No exact date has been given, but we expect a press-release containing just that soon. Until then, focus your attention on the fact that above this post towers an over-used screenshot where Sam Fisher is beating a guy to a pulp in a bathroom, because nothing is more fun than getting your noggin massaged by a pissoir. Probably my favorite screenshot of any game ever.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Trailer blowout [0]
Ubisoft has just released 3 new trailers for my new favorite game “No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle”.
Jesus Christ people, what else do you want me to say? There’s 3 trailers for a new Suda 51 game after the break, go watch them already. Watch them hard.
It’s out January 27th for the Wii. Count the minutes. continue reading →
Assassin’s Creed II shipping with Splinter Cell Conviction Demo? [0]
Early copies of the Xbox 360 version of “Assassin’s Creed 2″ seem to indicate that included with the game comes a code to download the demo to 2010’s “Splinter Cell Conviction.
The codes distributed with the game do not appear to be random, as they only spell out Conviction in 1337-speak (“CONV1C71ON”). Pr377y b4d455.
Come tuesday, you can try entering said code here.
Ubisoft demanding high scores for early Assassins Creed 2 Reviews? [29]
German magazine Computer Bild Spiele is reporting that Ubisoft has denied them access to a review copy of “Assassin’s Creed 2″ because they refused to assure the publisher that their review-score is going to be at least a ’sehr gut’, which roughly translates to an english/american ‘A’.
A short blurb on the cover of the magazine reads:
ASSASSIN’S CREED 2
SCANDAL!
PUBLISHER WANTED US TO GUARANTEE A SCORE OF ‘SEHR GUT’
In the web-preview of their current issue, the german publication writes:
Our reviews are tough, but fair. We will not give up our independent scores for the sake of a timely review. This holds true for “Assassin’s Creed 2″. The publisher asked us to guarantee the score ’sehr gut’, otherwise we would not receive a review copy, thus we will publish our review in next month’s issue. We’d be more than glad to give the game a ’sehr gut’, but only if it deserves it.
From what we’ve seen and played so far, the game is absolutely bonkers — it’s too bad that Ubisoft decided to taint the game’s image with a stunt like this. This still doesn’t mean that the game won’t be perfectly fine, just be careful once the first reviews start hitting the net.
We will ask Ubisoft for comment on Monday, but I doubt we will get anything back.
Sam Fisher goes a little crazy in new Splinter Cell Conviction Trailer [1]
Ubisoft has just released a new gameplay video showing Sam Fisher in action. The new trailer for “Splinter Cell Conviction” does not take any prisoners. There’s dudes getting shot, people getting executed from up top, and, of course, exploding cameras. No, really.
Check it out for yourself after the break. continue reading →
