Final Fantasy XIII digital foundry analysis, Xbox 360 port better? [Comments Off]

Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry channel opened today, bringing way to thoroughly obsessive analysis of the technology driving your favorite videogames. Their first victim is Final Fantasy XIII.
The article includes a very good technical breakdown of the effects used as well as — and this is probably what you came for — pretty HD video footage with an added FPS counter. And the game dips. A lot.

Square-Enix is facing key technical challenges, with variable and sometimes disappointing performance in the demo code.

Which is significantly more interesting is their analysis of a potential Xbox 360 version. Coupled with these guys’ seemingly good insight on the matter, it is definitely a good read. The real question however remains: just how big will that DVD case be?

So, I know that I haven’t been very good to you guys lately, haven’t been around much, slapped you around here and there… but so does Nintendo, and you still keep buying their consoles, right? Good thing is, I can make up for it. Unless you are Japanese, this is some pretty hot stuff: Brand new gameplay videos from the Final Fantasy XIII Demo that is going to hit japanese retailers tomorrow, bundled with the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Blu Ray special edition.

I don’t know how much you guys know about Japanese culture, I’m an expert by the way, but this game is going to sell like hotcakes.

New Final Fantasy XIII trailer is… you know [Comments Off]

Ladies and Gentlemen, a new Final Fantasy XIII trailer was bestowed upon us by the folks at Square Enix. It features — for the first time — gameplay footage! Without further ado, here’s the link to the trailer.

Interesting: The Xbox Live logo on the bottom. Square Enix has yet to release any information on how network connectivity will be used in this title, but here’s hoping they will reveal additional information about that soon.
