Heavy Rain has a release date [5]
Bring your umbrella, citizens of America, as the weather prediction for February 16th is “Heavy Rain”. It would be ironic if it actually rained that day, eh?
This is all according to this month’s Qore, which you can download from the PSN right about now.
Little Big Planet DLC gets you wet, Jack Sparrow [Comments Off]
Almost 2 years after the initial release, Sony’s “LittleBigPlanet” still keeps on a-truckin’. On December 22nd, Sackboy will finally get wet with some “Pirates of the Caribbean” DLC. So if you ever wanted to make a wet-t-shirt contest themed level, the time has cometh.
Destructoid, bless them, has the trailer for the whole shebang. We’re buying whatever they’re selling. Twice.
Mag Technology Could Support More Than 256 Players [2]
Zipper’s “MAG” supports an already astounding number of 256 players simultaneously — a first for a shooter, but guess what, according to Chief Software Architect Mike Klee, it could potentially support even more:
We built a technology that can support a huge number of players — we picked 256 because of gameplay balance, how we divide squads up, etc. But with our infrastructure, we can increase the number of players to beyond even 256 if we wanted to. There are trade-offs that would have to be made, of course, but the technology supports even more players if the need was there.
And there we were, thinking 256 was a lot. “MAG” is out this January on PlayStation 3. The beta just ended, sorry you had to find out this way. (via the MAG Blog)
Uncharted 2 wins Game of the Year at Spike VGAs [Comments Off]
Title says it all, really. The Internetz does not necessarily share the same opinion, but we can totally stand behind this.
Congratulations to Naughty Dog and Sony!
PixelJunk Shooter hits PSN Store, is awesome [Comments Off]
“PixelJunk Shooter” is now out on the PlayStation Store. This twin-stick puzzle-shooter from Kyoto based Q-Games has you navigating subterranean labyrinths while manipulating physically accurate fluids and gas and, aptly, shooting baddies in slick 1080P, 60 frames per second.
For those of you (and, especially, me) staying up way too late playing this game, Q-Games’ founder Dylan Cuthbert has the following advice:
make sure you drink plenty of water… and don’t mix it with magma or it will get stuck in your throat ;)
The game runs you $9.99/£6.29/€7.99. That is what we consider cheap. Bring a friend. Or a brother. Or wife. Or pay a prostitute. We didn’t say that.
SOCOM: Confrontation 1.60 Patch Out Now! [Comments Off]
Maybe I’m the only one who cares about this game. Maybe I’m not. Either way, I’m bouncing and shrieking like a teenage girl with an ample bosom. A new patch that adds more content, features, and guns that are FREE. As in free beer at a party. Free.99. Free as in acidentally getting two orders of fries when you only paid for one. Free as in — Well, you get the point.

Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Demo dropping December 17th [Comments Off]
The PlayStation.blog Europe reports that we will finally get some hands-on time with “Gran Turismo 5″ come December 17th.
If you want to know all the details on the competition, head over to the link posted above. Here’s what’s going to be in the demo, though:
The time trial features the stunning Nissan 370Z in two guises. Firstly a blisteringly fast, race-tuned monster and secondly an only slightly less fearsome non-tuned version.
[...]
To enter the Academy racers will have to post their best overall leaderboard times negotiating a specially created section of a new Gran Turismo 5 circuit.
We got to play “Gran Turismo 5″ sitting in a real car, so we’re a bit hard to impress, but this is still a nice little pre-Christmas surprise from Sony.
