Split Second coming May 2010

At yesterday’s VGAs, a new trailer to “Split/Second” was shown, pencilling the game in for a release in May 2010. The destructive racer, developed by Black Rock Studios of “Pure” fame and published by Disney will release on Xbox 360, PS3 and 360.

Update: The trailer has finally made it’s way onto GameTrailers. I, vindicated.

First look at Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

The first proper trailer for “Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days” awaits you after the jump. It showcases the game’s new visual style, which is based on YouTube. No, Really.
Kind-of ironic that they didn’t host the trailer on YouTube, but I guess IGN had more money. Check it out, it’s fantastic.

Bad Company 2: A Man, A Plan, A Canal, Panama

EA has decided to do a stealth-unveil of a new “Battlefield: Bad Company 2″ multiplayer map called ‘Panama Canal’. It looks just like you would expect: Awesome.

The footage in the video stems from the 360 version, which is a nice break from seeing PS3 versions of games all the damn time. I hope your sarcasm meter caught that. Check the vid after the break. Oscar mike!

Modern Warfare 2 Mythbusters [Comments Off]

If you are having sleepless nights because you are pondering if an EMP strike can cancel a tactical nuke or if a bursting fire hydrant can kill you, you should probably watch the video posted after the break.

This fan-made “Modern Warfare 2″ Mythbusters video is not only educational, it also goes to show how meticulous the level of detail in Infinity Ward’s work is.

Bethesda’s got Rage, EA … not anymore they don’t [Comments Off]

Bethesda’s got Rage, EA … not anymore they don’t

As of today, id’s “Rage” will be published by Bethesda, and not through the EA Partners program as previously announced. For you, as a person who purchases video game software, this doesn’t mean anything, really. Should you be an investor, you might be glad that this will probably raise Bethesda’s laughable Metacritic average.

More importantly (via PR):

The ongoing development of RAGE is unaffected by this development.

Which means that it’s still out “when it is done”, and not any time sooner, on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Oh, Mac. Of course.

Borderlands DLC #2: Mad Moxxie’s Underdome Riot [Comments Off]

After successfully delivering on “Zombie Island” (on PC now as well), Gearbox has announced another piece of DLC for “Borderlands”: “Mad Moxxie’s Underdome Riot” is a brand new game mode, which is very similar to ‘Firefight’ found in “Halo 3: ODST”. Gearbox’s Jon Hemmingway elaborated on the game-mode a bit further:

“It’s all about this crazy Moxxi character, and she’s running these tournaments. You go in and fight waves and rounds of monsters, and then she starts changing it all up. She throws out what are called ‘Moxxi Maxims,’ these rules that dramatically change the way the game play. She’ll be like, ‘Vampire Rule!’ which makes it so that the player’s health is constantly draining, but every time you get a kill you get a whole bunch of health back. Now all the players are like, ‘Holy crap, I have to play amazingly aggressive,’ so you have to charge in before you basically bleed out. Another example, she’ll go ‘Shotgun Challenge,’ where all shotguns do bonus damage and all other guns take a penalty.”

Also, you get a Gun-Bank where you can store all your weapons. “Underdome Riot” will run you a cool 800 MS Points or $10/€7,99. The Xbox 360 is getting it on December 29th while PS3 owners will have to hold out without “Mad Moxxie” until January 7th. Why? I don’t know.

Left 4 Dead maps coming to Left 4 Dead 2? [Comments Off]

NeoGAF member Red Scarlett has spotted something odd while trying to get into a game of “Left 4 Dead 2″ on the PC this evening: The maps Death Toll and No Mercy appeared to be selectable with a download link pointing to Valve’s very own Steam Store. Shortly thereafter the maps seemed to have been pulled and the disappeared from the available games screen.

We’ll ask Valve for comment but those guys are probably still sleeping — it is about 3AM in Washington State as I write this. We’ll let you know once we hear anything.

Aliens vs Predator release date; your questions to the dev

In case you are wondering, “Aliens Vs Predator” is coming February 19th on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Now you know.

Here’s my question to you though: What do you not know about the game? I am meeting the devs next week, so if you have any questions, hit us up in the comments or let me know via the tweeter. We will try to squeeze in all of your questions but also do some hard hitting investigative journalism of our own.

“Bayonetta” will also be there, so we might get a bit distracted. Can’t blame us for that, right?
