Halo: Reach has significantly more ‘p’ than Halo 3

Digital Foundry has taken a good look at that “Halo: Reach” ViDoc released a week ago, revealing what seems to be the resolution of the game’s current iteration: 1152×720, without any anti-aliasing.

“Halo 3″ as well as “Halo 3: ODST” sported the oft-critized resolution of 1152×640, which means that not only is “Reach” displaying 4 times the polygons, the image quality is also much improved.

Personally, I don’t assume this is going to change until the Beta drops in May — we’ll keep you posted. I do have a rather hard time sitting still just thinking about that.

Alan Wake Sequel “should [part 1] be successful”

VG247’s Patrick Garratt sat down with Remedy’s Oskari Häkkinen and spoke to him about the possibility of a sequel to “Alan Wake”:

You want to think of this as Season 1, so to speak, of a TV series. This will have a satisfactory and conclusive ending, but we will leave doors open, just as they do in Lost of 24, where they have a satisfactory ending to the season but they leave some doors open for the larger story. Just the same here. We’ll have the satisfactory and conclusive ending, and should this be successful then we will do Season 2.

I am not one to guilt trip you into things, but I think you should save up some cash. I have a good feeling about this one, and if I am right, we’ll probably all want more “Alan Wake”. In short: Please buy this.

Microsoft ceases Xbox Live service for Original Xbox

If you were planning on playing some “Halo 2″ on Live, you better do it soon, as Microsoft just announced that they will be discontinuing the service for the original Xbox, as well as original Xbox titles played on the Xbox 360 come April 15th.

This might open up a few new possibilities for Xbox Live, as it is well documented that “Halo 2″ was holding back Microsoft in adding more space to your friends list, as the legacy title only supported friends lists with a maximum of 100 people.

We have the full release for you after the jump. continue reading →
