Okami’s world “doesn’t belong” to Hideki Kamiya anymore

Making a sequel to “Okami”, one of the best games to come out on the PS2, and bring it to the DS seems like a genius idea. However, there’s one person who might feel a bit betrayed — Hideki Kamiya, the game’s creator. In a recent interview with GameInformer, he had the following thing to say about the sequel:

“Up until very recently I really felt someday I wanted to make a sequel to Okami, and there were others who wanted me to as well. But then the other day I heard the announcement that someone else would be making a sequel and now I’m just not interested in it anymore. Once someone else touches a world that you yourself created it stops being yours. There is no point in making a sequel when the world doesn’t belong to you.”

It’s a bit of a bummer that Hideki Kamiya might not be fully behind Capcom’s sequel to “Okami”, but the series is certainly in capable hands at Capcom: “Okamiden” is being directed by Kuniomi Matsushita, who worked on the Wii port of “Okami”, and produced by Motohide Eshiro, who has worked on several other beloved Capcom properties, such as “Onimusha” and “Ace Attorney”.

Nintendo introduces the DSi LL

A not so surprising announcement from Nintendo this morning: The DSi LL, a DSi with 2 4.2 inch screens (in lieu of the 3.2 inch screens currently employed) will see the light of the day on the 21st of November for 20.000 yen.
We will update this space when people have translated the japanese site or the press release. And no, we do not know what ‘LL’ stands for, either. Favorite one I’ve heard so far? “Lounge Lizard”.

Okami sequel headed to DS

Thank you, thank you, honestly, it was nothing. Great ideas like bringing a sequel to Clover Studio’s “Okami” to the DS come to me on a day-to-day basis. Good thing my friends at Capcom listened to my advice! They seem to have given it the name “Okamiden: Chiisaki Taiyo”. I have no idea what that means. Whatever.
You’d think it was common sense to bring a game where you DRAW A LOT to a system that you control with a PEN — ok, a stylus, same difference.
It’s coming 2010. I will buy enough party hats for all four of us.

Forza 3 and Layton more expensive in UK

Eurogamer reports that just like Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3 and the next Professor Layton have had their price increased by the publishers.

“Whether planned, or a case of jumping on the popular franchises bandwagon, we have seen Microsoft increase the price of Forza 3 to £49.99 and Nintendo increase the price of Professor Layton [and Pandora's Box] to £34.99,” ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta told us. “I sincerely hope that not all publishers will follow this lead.”

“The price increases that some publishers think the market can stand are, to say the least, a worrying trend, and appear to be more than just a result of currency fluctuations.”

Still cheaper than the games in mainland Europe. Still ridiculous and unneccessary.
