You can now play some Starcraft II Beta

Some dudes have released a crack so you can play some “StarCraft II” against AI without actually being in the beta.
For us non-beta-participants, it’s probably as good as it gets, so I suggest you take it, even though the AI is reportedly a little too easy. Or, as I like to call it, “just right”.

Diablo III, more StarCraft II in the “coming years”

2010 will not see the release of “Diablo III”, according to Blizzard, in the next year, the famed developer will release the first of three “Starcraft II” chapters as well as the new “World of Warcraft” expansion “Cataclysm”.

“Diablo III” as well as the other 2 parts of “Starcraft II”, namely the Protoss and Zerg campaign are said to launch in the “coming years”. Kotaku has visual proof.

Also, Roman numerals. No reason.

Activision CEO would raise prices further

Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, can not be serious. As the transcript of this earning call shows, the man has a clear vision:

You know if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further.

I am sure you would, Mr. Kotick. While on one hand, I, as a gamer, might not agree with his statement, at the end of the day, they’re the ones making money… Everybody’s darling EA? Not so much.
Quite frankly, if paying 10 dollars more per release will ensure that companies will be able to afford making AAA HD titles and take some risks, it’s a small price to pay, really.

StarCraft II not coming this year

Kinda awkward really, like staging your own surprise party, but hey, at least now we know for certain: “Starcraft II” is coming in 2010. In Bobby Kotick’s own words:

“As we prepare for next year, we have moved the expected release dates for two games, Activision Publishing’s Singularity and Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft II, into 2010.”

Now let’s just make sure that the Beta does not coincide with “Modern Warfare 2″ and all will be good.

As of today, the new version of battle.net is live. Blizzard’s internet multiplayer matchmaking system has now been revamped to accomodate your Blizzard account, which means this will be the only website you will need, ever.

As a little incentive to sign up, you will automatically opt-in to the StarCraft II Beta, with invitations going out right this second. It is not known, just how many people will get invited, but we are hearing it’s random.

Make sure, you accept Beta opt-ins in your account preferences as seen in the screenshot above. Good luck!
