Demon’s Souls 2 might be in the making

This week’s Dengeki is hinting that there might be a sequel to 2009’s surprise RPG coming up. NeoGAF user Duckroll translated the site’s hint/rumor:

In the latest Dengeki Games podcast, there a mention of an unannounced sequel to a game which came out last year, slated to be released in Fall of 2010. The game is said to be challenging and extremely hard, with very “interesting” gameplay systems.

The only game we can think of that fits this description is “Demon’s Souls”, a game that came out in Japan in 2008, has gathered several Game of the Year awards and was a major hit with harcore-gamers in both Japan and the US — Europe is still awaiting an official release.

If thou seeketh soul power, you won’t have to wait for very long to be able to touch the demon inside me. Hopefully.

A New Persona Game in the Making?

Do you like “Persona”? We fucking love “Persona”! Good news for us then: Andriasang is reporting that the team that created “Persona 4″ is reuniting for a new project for Japanese publisher Atlus — all of this according to series producer Katsura Hashino.

While we do not know, what exactly said next project is going to be, a safe bet would be a new entry in the dating-sim RPG franchise for Xbox 360 and/or PlayStation 3.

Bet I can annoy the shit out of you? “Everyday is great at your Junes!” It’s stuck in your head now, isn’t it? Thank me later.

The Hidden Narrative of Demon’s Souls

“Demon’s Souls” is a very different game. Not only is it one of the games with the most interesting implementations of networking so far, the way the story is told, or not told, to be more precise, is fascinating.

Demon’s Souls does not impart this narrative through cut-scenes or dialogue choices. It doesn’t have a morality or karma system. To completely experience the game, players are encouraged to become demons themselves. By taking advantage of specific game mechanics encouraged by the game itself, player actions further the story of Demon’s Souls.

Rob Savillo has written one of the most interesting articles about FROM Software’s masterpiece. A must read.

Atlus is bringing 3D Dot Game Heroes to the US next may

Atlus and FROM Software might be getting a bit chummy it seems. After bringing over “Demon’s Souls”, a game clearly created by a sadistic bastard with the sole purpose of driving you insane, now Atlus is bringing over another FROM title, “3D Dot Game Heroes”, which clearly is a nod to “A Link To The Past”, only with insanely good looking graphics.

It’s out May 2010 for PlayStation 3 exclusively and retails for $40. Here’s a trailer.
