Lost Planet 2 PS3 impressions [Comments Off]
I had a chance on wednesday to go hands on with “Lost Planet 2″ on PS3 and Xbox 360 semi-simulatenously and, for now, bring bad news for people who were excited for the PlayStation rendition: You can barely tell it’s the same game.
The PS3 build displays strong dithering, aliasing and lower resolution textures than the build that was running on the 360.
The game is still a ways off, so I wouldn’t get too worried, but then again I wasn’t the one who decided to show it to the public… and to me. I am a monster. GODZILLA!
GamesCom 09: ModNation Racers [Comments Off]
“ModNation Racers” came pretty much out of nowhere. Like everything Sony is showing this year, it’s very, very ambitious — but is it awesome? Find out, after the break!

Uncharted 2’s ice cave is beautiful, boring [Comments Off]
Naughty Dog decided to bore the european press to tears with a 20 or so minute demo of the ice-cave stage of Uncharted 2.
Not that there is anything wrong with the game, it still is the most beautiful video game to date, but watching a dude climb for 20 minutes without being able to interact with it is not exactly exciting.
Most notable achievement: not a single ‘jaggie’ on a 100+ inch screen.
ps3 was in the pool, is now slim [Comments Off]
Not only is the PS3 now tiny, but you can also afford one. It’s 299 starting september 1st and sports a 120 GB harddrive.
The only reason not to get one if you wanted to put linux on it. Sorry!
This really was the worst kept secret ever, but it’s a beautiful piece of hardware and was well worth all the speculation and hoping.
Shadow Complex scoring high [Comments Off]
Eurogamer just reviewed Epic’s stint into side-scrolling exploration “Shadow Complex”.
Epic Games and Chair Entertainment have triumphed where Japanese developers continue to flounder. The result is nothing short of one of the best games of this generation.

Seems like Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade 2009 is going out with a bang. Seems like I still haven’t gotten my review copy. Do you not love me anymore? Is this a divorce?
Shadow Complex will be available on Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points this wednesday.
Lost Planet 2 Demo to hit Xbox Live [Comments Off]
Contrary to popular opinion, killing bugs is not fun, especially not if you have to pay for it. Capcom is convinced otherwise, and releases a demo for much anticipated MT Framework 2.0 showcase shooter “Lost Planet 2″ on Xbox Live on the 19th of August, which happens to be next wednesday.
First, the demo will only be available for Gold subscribers, everyone else will get their hands on the demo on the 26th, which is exactly a week later.
If you only own a PLAYSTATION 3, you might have to make do with the following statement from Capcom:
“A Lost Planet 2 demo for PS3 is still to be confirmed.” (Source: GoOnlineGames.)
30 bullshots per minute [Comments Off]
DigitalFoundry has posted an extremely worthwhile article about the age-old Bullshot debate.
The bottom line is that some crazy fools out there might argue that the purpose of a screenshot or a movie is to actually show you how the game actually looks, as opposed to how it might look if you were running it on a PC, with ultra-level settings and an unplayable frame-rate. There’s also the fact that going to the trouble of creating all of these enhancements takes time and presumably money: surely both would be better spent on developing the game?
Does anyone still remember the uproar when Tiberian Sun came out, looking nothing like the screenshots? Well, I do. Because I am old. Old’ish. But so is your mom and that doesn’t stop you from loving her, now does it?
PS3 Slim is real or a con [Comments Off]
At this point, the PS3 slim just hast to be real, or several people are lying to my face.
The plot thickens:
1) Asian GameWave claims it’s being shown next week in Cologne. Only they didn’t write Cologne, just Germany. I hope it will be shown in Cologne because that’s where I’ll be.
2) Yesterday I wanted to sell one of my bazillion PS3s because I felt bad for the poor in the world and owning that many PS3s and driving a Mercedes simply isn’t fair, so I had to make a quick decision. I ran down to my local dealer of electronic entertainment products and presented my proposal and they were all like “nuh-uh, we just got a new PS3 listing for the slim console coming in next week, so all we can offer you for your fat console is a couple of bread-crums and a copy of Alone In The Dark for the Wii”.
So there. I have included a blatantly fake picture for you to get used to the massive disappointment in advance.
