Dark Void maybe no longer sent to die [Comments Off]
Capcom has decided to move “Dark Void” to Q1 2010. Probably a very smart move as the game was penned to release day and date with “Halo 3: ODST”.
Capcom’s Chris Kramer to Joystiq:
“The move will be great for the game and for gamers: less competition in the market (curse you, Halo!), more time for polish.”
Good, this means I can delay begging for money on those frigid Vienna sidewalks to April.
RAGE a little — ok, very slow on ps3 [Comments Off]
John Carmack about “RAGE” in the latest issue of EDGE:
“The PS3 lags a little bit behind in terms of getting the performance out of it,” John Carmack told Edge. “The rasteriser is just a little bit slower – no two ways about that.
The RSX is slower than what we have in the 360. The CPU is about the same, but the 360 makes it easier to split things off, and that’s what a lot of the work has been, splitting it all into jobs on the PS3.”
What this means is, that while PC and Xbox 360 will run “RAGE” at 60 frames per second, the PlayStation 3 version is running at 20-30.
Look, I am not a scientist, not to mention not a rocket scientist, but a difference of up to 40 frames sounds like a lot! No word from Carmack if this will be fixed until launch. Hey, at least it comes on a single disc on PS3, right? Wrong.
Nintendo’s Denise Kaigler doesn’t get it [Comments Off]
In an interview with Wired Denise Kaigler, VP of corporate affairs at Nintendo, talks about hardcore third party games finding little to no success on the Wii:
You know, I don’t know. It’s hard to say. It could be titles have the same type of sales curve that a lot of Nintendo titles have. A lot of Nintendo titles don’t follow that traditional sales curve where they launch big and then that’s it. Our titles have a long tail. They build in popularity, and this could be the case with, as you mentioned, MadWorld and The Conduit. I’ve played both. I’m not a core gamer, and I found that they were challenging and fun. We’re hopeful that the titles will catch on and that consumers who already have those games will spread the word and others will follow suit there. They’re deep experiences, and they’re very challenging titles, and we certainly like them. But it’s our hope that the games will pick up in popularity and they’ll continue to sell.
I know, It’s easy to say: “MadWorld” was niche, “The Conduit” was garbage. “TimeShift” probably didn’t set the world on fire either, but you don’t see those guys complaining.
Pitchford: Borderlands a Risk [Comments Off]
The launch of “Borderlands” this year is, despite publishers continuously pulling out, still a huge Risk for Gearbox and 2K, Randy Pitchford tells Eurogamer.
“When people take risks and it’s not rewarded, in the case of Mirror’s Edge, it’s makes it harder for others to be comfortable taking risks,” said Pitchford. “Yeah, I’m terrified. And [Borderlands is] an original brand, too, so it’s even more risky.”
But Pitchford pointed to the example of BioShock as a new brand that still sold shedloads thanks to being a bit good, helped on by word of mouth.
“There are those of us that play everything and we’re begging for fresh stuff, so I’m hoping that helps,” he added. “And if it’s good, it’ll get noticed.”
Randy, don’t be.
Forza 3 and Layton more expensive in UK [Comments Off]
Eurogamer reports that just like Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3 and the next Professor Layton have had their price increased by the publishers.
“Whether planned, or a case of jumping on the popular franchises bandwagon, we have seen Microsoft increase the price of Forza 3 to £49.99 and Nintendo increase the price of Professor Layton [and Pandora's Box] to £34.99,” ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta told us. “I sincerely hope that not all publishers will follow this lead.”
“The price increases that some publishers think the market can stand are, to say the least, a worrying trend, and appear to be more than just a result of currency fluctuations.”
Still cheaper than the games in mainland Europe. Still ridiculous and unneccessary.
Review: WipEout HD Fury [Comments Off]
“WipEout HD” is probably the single best game the PSN has to offer — some would argue, it is the best game on the entire system.
For about $ 9.99, the newly released “Fury” expansion adds a lot of content to the already generous offering, but will that content satisfy your cravings for high speed racing action?

Trine to hit PSN in August (supposedly) [Comments Off]
In an e-mail to wearetheinternetz, Lauri Hyvärinen from Frozenbyte confirmed that “Trine” will not see a release on Sony’s PSN Store this August.
Trine PSN will be out early August, hopefully. Unfortunately it didn’t make to this week’s Thursday.
Please note, we don’t have exact information about the release date but only a best guess.
If you have a capable PC, there is no need to wait though, as the game is already out and can be bought via Steam or at your local Walmart. Or Zellers. Or Levar Burtons House O’ Fixins. Or a woman’s purse. Or David Bowie’s Mind.
