Needz moar Left 4 Dead – updated [Comments Off]

Can there ever be enough Left 4 Dead? No. Valve agrees, and starting this spring we will see a lot more content added to the game on both Xbox 360 and PC simultaneously.
The first of these content packs, titled “Survival”, will feature the maps Dead Air and Death Toll playable in versus mode but also a completely new mode called, you guessed it, Survival, where 4 players will face a never ending onslaught of zombies and a stopwatch on 12 maps.
PC users will also finally get their hands on the SDK, which means awesome new maps and mods straight from the community.
The add-on content is scheduled for a release this spring. It is unclear if Xbox 360 users will have to pay for this content but it is implied that buyers of the PC version should expect this to be free.
Update: Valve has now confirmed that both versions will get the DLC for free. Rejoice!
Dead Rising 2 is real!!! [Comments Off]

Looks like I was right on the money: Dead Rising 2 is real and it is multiplatform — and looks glorious.
The game, that promises a “new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies” will take place in the gambling paradise of Fortune City.
While Capcom is still not letting on on a lot of details for now, we do know that the game is developed by Blue Castle Games in Canada but with some parts of the team responsible for the original playing a key role in development. Oh, and also: You’ll be killing zombies — lots of them.
Alleged Dead Rising 2 trailer leaks [Comments Off]

It’s been a good week for people who love to shoot Zombies. First, Valve announced DLC for Left 4 Dead (more on that later), and now, a trailer to what might be the sequel to Dead Rising has leaked onto the net.
Keep in mind that this trailer might be fake, we do not know anything for certain at this point, so take this with a grain of salt. Please find the trailer after the break.

It’s Killzone 2 day! [Comments Off]

The Killzone 2 Demo is now up on the European PSN Store. It’s 1.2GB. You will need two strippen but you only have one. Black riders will have to pay.
For those of you, who were lucky enough to be able to download the game without PSN going crazy due to the huge amount of traffic, there probably is not too much doubt left that this game does indeed deliver on most of the promises.
The demo takes you along the banks of Corinth river and the warehouse where it abruptly ends, which is a god-damn shame. To prolong the fun, I recommend trying the game out with the russian voiceover.
The game, that has garnered 1.1 million pre-orders in Europe alone and was important enough to be featured in the recent Penny-Arcade comic, is set to be released in the last week of february.
Rockstar unveils Red Dead Redemption [Comments Off]

In a surprise move, Rockstar, makers of the hit series Grand Theft Auto, revealed a new project today: an open-world western shooter titled Red Dead Redemption.
The game, a follow up to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver, will take place on the turn of the 20th century shortly after the industrial revolution, puts the player in the shoes of John Marston, a former outlaw.
Not much else is known about the game so far, but it has been confirmed that it will hit both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will be built with the same engine that made GTA IV look all kinds of shiny. Prospective release is fall of 2009.
EA is bleeding money [Comments Off]
In today’s earning call, Electronic Arts‘ John Riccitiello presented the numbers for the 4th quarter 2008. The company posted a loss of $641 million.
Due to the financial situation the company is in, it has been decided that 12 instead of 9 studios will be consolidated and an additional 100 employees will be laid off.
Also, the publisher will re-focus it’s effort to the Wii, which will receive as much titles as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 together, including a port of blog-favorite Dead Space.
Other noteworthy announcmenets today:
Dragon Age will now be released in the later part of 2009.
The Godfather II was delayed to the fiscal year 2010 (which starts this April).
Sequels to Mass Effect — that will be going multiplatform — and Battlefield: Bad Company confirmed.
