Dead Space Extraction surprises, scares [Comments Off]

When Dead Space Extraction joined the slew of the ever increasing mature titles on the Wii, quite a few people were getting their hopes up. “Will it look as good as the next-gen versions?” they asked, “Could it be the spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4?” they wanted to know.
The answer? “No” and “Fuck no”, respectively.
Extraction features a female heroine, a first person perspective and a total lack of movement. Yes, it is an on rails shooter, featuring the weapons, the dismemberment, the upgrades and most importantly the tense atmosphere of the “big brother”.
While this is a very unexpected step for the still young franchise, EA could actually pull this one off. Helmed again by Glenn Schofield and EA’s Redwood Shores studio in cooperation with Eurocom the talent is there, so are the insane production values.
We have a trailer for you after the jump. continue reading →
Now available: Lost and the Damned [Comments Off]

The critically acclaimed Content Add-on for the equally critically acclaimed GTA IV, The Lost and the Damned, is now available on the Xbox-Live Marketplace.
You will have to plunk down 1600 Microsoft Points for this downloadable Episode, which nets you more than 10 hours of gameplay and the first ever digital cock.
This week in gaming: Shoryuken edition [Comments Off]

I hope you have been practicing your hadoukens, as Street Fighter IV is about to hit this week, depending on where you live you may either pick it up on tuesday (US) or friday (EU). Early reports indicate that you can’t go wrong with either version of this modern classic. Cammy ftw!
Also on tuesday is, and I can hardly contain my excitment over this one, GTA IV Lost and the Damned. The first expansion to a game that took ages to grow on me but when it did, it shrouded everything else in irrelevance. 1600 Microsoft Points, 2 Gigs of hard-drive space and an original copy of Grand Theft Auto 4 for Xbox 360 are needed for this one.
Also, I am going to implement a comment system this week. Just so you know: Civil discussions are always welcome, but if you are going to be a dick and resort to calling names, I will ban your ass.
Noby Noby Boy confuses own creator [Comments Off]

Namco Bandai’s PlayStation 3 exclusive downloadble Noby Noby Boy has to be the weirdest game ever put on consoles. It is the Joaquin Phoenix of videogames.
Every game has to have some sort of point — even the artsy flower makes sense in a way — but ‘Boy just seems to be a bunch of random shit thrown together. Keita Takahashi, creator of the Katamari series and certified expert in weirdness admittedly has created something even he himself does not understand, that does not mean he does not try:
“Basically players can control and stretch Boy, the main character of the game. As players stretch Boy, the lengths to which he grows are uploaded to a persistent character known as Girl, who grows at the same rate as the combined length of all the players in the world. Girl starts at Earth and expands around the solar system. When Girl reaches a new milestone in the solar system, new areas are unlocked as playable stages for everyone around the world.”
Despite, or mazybe because of the weirdness, Noby Noby Boy does sound rather enticing. Here we are again, at the edge of our seats, awaiting the game’s release on thursday, february 19 — can’t really go wrong for about €3,99, right?
The new trailer can be found after the jump. Please watch it, but do not expect enlightment. continue reading →
God of War III Screenshots, Details, Trailer [Comments Off]
It is no secret that God of War III is probably the most important PlayStation 3 title looking forward (Sorry, Killzone 2.) What, starting today, is no real secret anymore is that it looks… underwhelming. However, it has to be said, that the game is not due to ship in at least 10 months.
The game was shown to journalists this week and the reactions so far have been unanimously positive.
Here’s to the new trailer, then.
Some of the most important new features:
- A lot more enemies on the screen at once
- Epic scale
- On-the-fly weapon switching
- Yes, there will be a sex-minigame
Now to the screenshots:
flower makes my heart smile [Comments Off]

The magnificent flower is now up on the PlayStation Store. For € 7.99 there is really no reason anyone should not give this game a whirl.
You do not need to read the reviews, you do not need a demo. All you need to know is that flower is the most unique audio-visual experience that you will ever have on this generation of consoles and you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl. It excells in everything that it does and it is competent enough to re-ignite the games as art debate singlehandedly.
If you do not own a PLAYSTATION 3, please find the new trailer after the break.

One Blizzard title, StarCraft II Beta, scheduled for 2009 [Comments Off]

Blizzard COO Paul Sams let it be known that “Blizzard intends on delivering one front line release per year.” — Could this mean that the first chapter of the StarCraft II trilogy, “Wings of Liberty” could be released this year?
Diablo 3 was just announced, 2008’s title was Wrath of the Lich King, so unless they are withholding key information from us, it can only be StarCraft II.
A beta, that will also include a taste of the “new Battle.Net” is scheduled to be released in the coming months.
Oh also, for all you World of Warcraft suckers, there is “substantial expansions” planned for that, too. Now go outside.
